MAGNA INTERNATIONAL HANDS SCULPTURE
Baby Ezra had passed away on May 27th, 2008. He was only 6.5 weeks old. Eric (Ezra's dad), Gina(Ezra's mom) and the family were extremely upset by the devastating news. Unfortunately, there was a mix up at the hospital and baby Ezra was cremated without getting
his hand molds done. I was contacted by the family to reproduce Ezra'a hands by looking at photographs. I studied the hand prints from
the autopsy, and also many of his baby photographs that the family was so fortunate to have. He had such a beautiful look about him,
and I would feel an instant connection with him as I worked on his hands. I completed a Three Dimensional pair of hands.
and Eric came to my house to see the finished sculpture of Ezra's baby hands, Gina cried and so did I. The feeling was remarkable to be able to help them have some kind of closure. Nothing will bring Ezra back, but these hands will help Gina at night when she can hold them. Gina hugged me, thanked me and she told me that "this is helping me on my journey of healing".
Not only did I have
an opportunity to create these hands,
but I am so privileged to have met Ezra's parents and know we will remain friends forever.
That is a blessing in itself!
